Exemption is a three-piece aggressive progressive rock outfit that started on Long Island in 2004 when the members were only 13 and 14. In 2007 they put out their first full-length, "The Rabbit Hole." In 2009 they released the "Harmony of the Spheres EP," and in October 2010 they put out their second full-length "Public Cemetery Party." Their sound has evolved into something truly their own, combining progressive metal, stoner rock, pop, blues, and alternative ambiance once earning them the title of the "bastard children of the Beatles (The Metal Den)." Check out http://exemption.bandcamp.com to hear some music, all the releases are available on iTunes and Cdbaby.com. This blog is for the members to share stories and news with their friends and fans.

Public Cemetery Party approaches...

Hey there, how the hell are ya?  More time has passed than I would have liked between my last post and this one but we have been busy fools this month.  First of all most importantly, we have three new songs up on our myspace, facebook, bancamp, and soundcloud from the upcoming new album, Public Cemetery Party.  They are "Hyperspiral," "Blood Heaven," and "Godzilla."  Also, the mix of "Mutating Skulls" from the Dinosaurs in Vietnam Compilation is still up and I put an updated one on the bandcamp page.  Last night Ray and I were at Killingsworth until about 4am putting finishing touches on his mixes and we are fucking psyched to finally have some new music available to you guys!  We really hope people are gonna dig this new shit and nobody hesitates to give their feedback, comments, or critiques.

The release show will be at Mulcahy's of Wantagh on Wednesday, October 27th at 8pm.  Also playing will be Vision Through Sound, Midnight Mob, Born of Scars, and more to be announced.  We will have tickets for $10 pretty soon, as will the other bands.  Exemption will be going on at 10pm.  If you can't make it out, we of course will have copies available at every show thereafter and it won't be long before it'll be available on iTunes, CDbaby, and other sites.  We'll have the real album art up in a few days for everyone.  It's currently in the last editing stages.  The illustration was done by our own Tom Moran, with editing done by Jessica Marte and Dillon McCarthy.  Here's a little preview that really doesn't do it justice:

We also have a really cool free show coming up in Tompkins Square Park with our buds in the awesome NYC bands Thinning the Herd & Gods Green Earth on Sunday, October 10th starting around 2pm and continuing into the night.  We have had many great nights chilling, drinking, and smoking illegally in Tompkins Square and it is a privilege to get to rock there, outside with freaks like us.

We're also really fucking psyched for a little north east run we'll be doing this November. Booking your own tour is not an easy thing, but I'm happy we're at least getting a little traveling in this fall. I'm also happy Alli Murphy our b.f.f.f.e was cool enough to help us out with that. We also will have an ad in the "On the Rise" section of the November issue of Relix Magazine promoting the new album and tour. Subscribers should get it in a little under a month from now, once we get a copy scanned in I'll post it on here and our other pages. Thanks again to Alli for helping us with that. The tour so far looks like this:

November 5th - West Virginia (tentative)

November 6th - Maryland
(The Foster Home - 3202 Highview Road. Chesapeake Beach w/ Teens & Trucks)

November 7th or 8th (date still to tba) - Delaware
(Mojo 13 - 1706 Philadelphia Pike. Wilmington w/ TBA)

November 10th - Philadelphia, PA
(The Fire - 412 West Girard Ave. Philadelphia w/ Twin Temples & After the Fall)

November 12th - Oneonta, NY
(General Clinton Pub - 17 Clinton Plaza. Oneonta. w/ The Dutch Masters)

November 15th - Massachusetts
(The Midway Cafe - 3496 Washington St. Jamaica Plain. w/ TBA)

November 17th - Rochester, NY
(The Bug Jar - 219 Monroe Ave. Rochester. w/ TBA)

So we're still trying to fill in some of those gaps and figure out the details on a couple of the dates but regardless we are excited to play new places!  If anyone reading is in any of these areas, let us know!

I gotta go eat some foooood.  Peace and Love.
